Feeling Grateful: We asked for a fridge and in 24 hours you delivered!

The Lynn, MA fridge team is in its early stages. The team has yet to source a location, but we're getting close. Stay tuned for future updates as we get this amazing project underway.

Earlier this week we published our website. At that time we needed a fridge. We are delighted to announce that we have located a pending fridge donation. We will set a launch date for the Lynn, MA fridge as soon as we have more infrastructure in place to do so.

Community free food fridges have been popping up across the country. As the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic surges, communities are looking to support each other. Particularly residents in the most vulnerable communities.

Get Involved

Seeking volunteers to help keep the free food fridge a reality. There are many ways to get involved. We are also looking for more businesses to donate surplus food. Please let us know if you would like to participate!

About the Project

The Lynn Community Fridge Project was founded with two goals in mind: to combat food insecurities and reduce food waste. The core of our efforts is to make nutritious food accessible to all members of the community. Healthy food should not be a privilege. The fridge promotes both a sustainable and economical practice by providing a more equitable and communal way to access food. All contents in the fridge will always be 100-percent free, available 24/7 -- no long lines and no questions asked. We are calling for food donations from local gardens, restaurants, supermarkets, and other establishments that would be willing to donate fresh food to this mutual aid effort. Since our founding in 2020, we have been determined to make the North Shore a healthier place for everyone. So much food goes to waste in our society and we want to stop the waste while simultaneously feeding our community!

Are free food fridges real?

You may be thinking it's too good to be true. Community fridges have been tremendously successful across the country. Here is an article New York City's Community Refrigerators Offer Free Food for Those in Need, which praises the Community Fridge’s role in NYC and others around the country and a short clip 'The Love Fridge' Helping People Find, Donate Food in Chicago. Other fridges in the Boston area have had great success. Here are links to their social media pages:
